When you arrive at Smile Club, our first order of business is to ensure your comfort at our dental practice. Next, you can expect to provide a detailed medical and dental history prior to the exam itself. The exam starts with taking a full series of digital mouth X-rays that help your dentist assess oral health conditions under the surface that may not be apparent with the naked eye. During the typical exam, your dentist will assess your oral health closely to diagnose any problems. We’ll ask you about your current regimen, and then if time allows, you’ll have a dental cleaning. However, some patients must come back for a follow-up dental appointment if they need a deeper cleaning.

Preparing for a Dental Exam & Checkup

The best way to be ready for your dental exams is to practice good at-home oral hygiene. Be sure to clean your teeth prior to your appointment, as well. Our team will clean your teeth, of course, but it’s useful for you to remove any food particles and plaque beforehand so we can use our special dental tools to clean more difficult-to-reach areas. Don’t be embarrassed to be honest about your oral hygiene routine, because our team in nonjudgmental and wants to help you improve your habits so you can have the best dental and overall health possible.
